I'd be very interested in a separate topic James, you've basically bought what on my shopping list for 3D printing......will be looking to purchase next year after moving house and i'm settled in.

I will get writing as soon as I have something substantial to write about, so far though I can't fault the Elegoo stuff.

How quick are resin printers James, My FDM printer works a treat but quick they are not, 'specially if you dial in more detail, Or use flexible TPU, but TPU is ridiculously strong,

Regards

Joe.

I'm not really sure how they compare with FDM printers to be honest Joe. The print in the photo took just over two hours at a 0.05mm layer height (0.01mm is the lowest it will go), the key thing i think with resin printers is the speed is the same whether you fill the build plate or if you have just one thing on. The height is what determines the time taken as unlike an fdm printer the resin cures an entire layer in one go every six seconds where as an fdm has to go along the entire route for every layer.

Very interesting James thank you, I could do a 1/32 truck tyre useing flexible TPU in 54 minutes but TPU has to be extruded pretty slow, 14mms and that is only one tyre, so 6 tyres would be almost 6 hours but they would be good to go no washing or cureing, a bit tidying up but that is inevitable anyway, but not bad at €0.08 each,??

Joe.

be interested in how this goes,i assume you will just print your own masters now, to make the resin casts with, rather than sending them away.

i keep pondering buying one, but honestly the more i think about it ,i dont think i would use it as much as i should to justify the costs, got several bits i would like to get done ,but when you dont build to sell its not worth it, i just dont have time with work as well

Give it a go Sean, printers are cheap and good these day's,Not knocking resin printers, but I think for a first machine an FDM ( filament) printer would be best for getting the feel for what can be done and you can get brand new ones for under £200 perfectly good machines, Once if you like doing that you could go the resin route, Filament for FDM's is around £16.00 a kilo that is 440 meters I would only need 1.29mtr or 4gramms at €0.08 not sure how much a bottle of resin is or how much use you would get out of it, And if you have a problem there are umpteen tutorials on Youtube,

Master patterns for resin and rubber parts is my main use for it yes, although some personal builds will probably benefit where ever circles are involved, so some obscure builds can have custom wheels, and flywheels for some traction engines I'd like to make.

I will delve into more detail in a topic but cautious of flooding this thread just for now.

I got a Britains Claas Xerion a while ago, and decided to get one of these Siku Maize levellers to go with it and make use of the reverse drive.  It wouldn't fit on the linkage but after some persuasion with a hacksaw it fits a treat.

Need to get a suitably decent cultivation rig for it at some stage as well.

The Fordson Super Dexta from Poppema arrived today. The model was detached from the plinth inside the box, it looks as if the screws have pulled through the plastic mount. Thankfully it does not seem to be damaged

That's a nice haul.

Thanks Justin, admired these conversions for many years, mainly when they were displayed by the chap who built them at the Lakeland Show near Penrith who I got on very well with. Really pleased I've been able to give some of them a new home.

Would that be Roy Leetham, David a very talented custom builder indeed
