Britains POS

SA15 another display cabinet, a bit smaller this time. This also has internal lighting for bc lamps and dates to 1964, when the big B logo was introduced. I cannot find any reference to this after 1964 but it was available prior to this with a different Britains/Herald logo. Size is approximately 20" wide, 22" high and 10" deep narrowing to 6.5" deep at the top where the lamps are. Glass shelves are about  5" then 4" apart going from the base up. I believe there should be sliding back portions, as there are grooves for these top and bottom, unfortunately these are long gone.

Another display item from the 90's I reckon, although dedicated to Soldiers I think these may have been available with the more normal Britains logo. There is provision on the R/H side to hold catalogues/leaflets. I meant to put some early Zang Soldiers on here to show size but didn't get quite that far, ho hum!

  • 1 year later...

Being off sick does give me a bit of time to up date this topic a little, all items bought in the preceding couple of years, so lets begin.

First up a Flyer from approximately 1981/2 with some clothing, wonder how much if any survives! It measures 8 3/8" x 5 1/8"P1140853(1).thumb.JPG.e7f8437d5310e591f66637428f0b29f4.JPG

New Lines Arrow, I have seen very few of these (3) and managed to buy this one. It dates from 1964 on as that is when the Britains B with Soldier in was first used. Unable to find it in any of my reference material so if anyone can prove when first used please let me/us know.

A great idea when fixed to a box end flapP1140871(1).thumb.JPG.bb9258443bb7da1c2a33c4bbb2589a5b.JPG

How secured to box

A very early plastic range trade box from 1958. I was under the impression that the Britains lead mould livestock were moulded in plastic in 1959 (only?)  A 1958 price list refutes that!

A shelf edger, a short one at that, most likely from the 1980's. It does not look to have been cut down, but then why would you?

Yet another competition entry form, this ones from 1987 and has been used. The actual entry part has been cut off the bottom  along the dotted line!

That's brilliant, do you still have what you won?

Funnily enough, I’m fairly sure I only kept one bit which was the green county land rover. I already had everything else, so my Dad swapped them in at the local toy shop, sadly I can’t remember what they were exchanged for.....

Look forward to seeing something different John. I might have to take the time out to redo a lot of the early pictures, having relied on a certain image hosting site, missed an H out there!

I like the mid 80's era poster. The era off my own childhood. Once a month ..my family would go into Cork city to do a shop.. The upper floor off Easons on Patrick St seemed to have a good stock off Britains. I always came home with ether a Britains  tractor or implement. I had my Dad broke ..Anything over a £5 was considered too expensive ...but sometimes I twisted his arm . Dual Wheel MF595s and Ford 7710s...the good ol days.

Some nice bits amongst that collection John and like Justin some of the 80's stuff brings back good memories :) from upstairs in the KayDee bookshop or the bigger selection at Cowgills, but like some have said in other threads it's when there were implements to go with tractors in the range

The only thing i think i have about POS wise is this Aluminum folded sign, not sure where it came from just remember dad turning up with it from one of the shows, its approx 4" long and 3/4" high on the face where the decal is, almost a light grey rather than white

Wowsers John, that little lot kept you occupied for a while yesterday. Where to start, the questionaire  came from Toytrac? I have one that came from there.

I thought I had shown the patches!

I vaguely remember the McDonalds adverts, seem to recall a large poster was used? was it that long ago!

Love the Ford leaflet, wouldn't mind one of them.

Kerry gold set is different. I have some Milkyway promo bits, a small booklet and an advert from a comic

The Aisle hanging cards are nice. I don't seem to be able to get/find any of the newer stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have purchased quite a few different adverts via ebay over the last few years, two of a few in error, for the most part from the same person.

Your large cabinet is exactly the same as mine, different header, although I do have that one, and I put a mixture of shelf edgers on my one. There was a collector on one of the face book pages who put two up in a loft, couldn't have been easy, huge great things!
