It has been a while but I thought I would update some photos for you all.. Following on from CX820JOEs post about a farm sale in Ellesmere, Shropshire I popped along with my camera on the viewing day for a look..20170316_143112.thumb.jpg.e70f0990c0ac84b051dbb7e0e957b2b9.jpg20170316_141137.thumb.jpg.85497b3f60d25c050f41145b4a203ff2.jpg20170316_142834.thumb.jpg.8d047f249415c67e9f1a5b9030077c92.jpg20170316_142841.thumb.jpg.1228f17c73cf28cddd7d3308dede9530.jpg20170316_142906.thumb.jpg.f8772ddaf4e66f94d500c7ff5cd8c1d3.jpg20170316_143007.thumb.jpg.94a59885fe8a42ff1079b55f47dcab9e.jpg20170316_142827.thumb.jpg.2f868591772268c07be9b6e3ab11950e.jpg20170316_142815.thumb.jpg.fbe73ad9d7b020a009984e1e72130e28.jpg

great photos - I wonder how the sale went.

Hard to tell, most tractors were tidy but high houred and most were non runners. Again the machinery was very old but well kept. Such a shame to see what was a very large farm dissapear from our countryside.

Some great classics there, would be interested to know the prices if at all possible

I will try to find out, the Same had a severe sounding engine knock at idle.

They used to do a lot of contracting at one time - they had 3 of those M120s and the M152, and did a bit of stone haulage too with their own branded truck (s).  You can't really see it but the Case 1690 carried the AHM Lea name on the cab roof too from the contracting days.  When I first used to go past and have a look I was about 14 (almost 28 years ago) and it was a busy set up - over the years since old Arthur Lea passed away very little was replaced (The MF3645 was about the latest addition) and machinery virtually run into the ground.  I think the 1690 and DB 1490, Ford 6600 and MF3645 were the only runners (possibly with the MF 35 and 185).  Everything else had conked out over time and sat idle.  It must be 10 years since the Deutz had last run.

The combines last worked in 2015 and the M120 actually did most of the harvest that year - the M152 laid up apart from a few early appearances.

End of an era in a way, though it didn't come as a surprise.

MF 3645 looks the pick of the tractors for me....and I do hope the old Laverda combines have gone to good homes. Fabulous looking combines. :)

The Mf 3645 was to be honest very tidy in appearance but looking in the cab the dash was missing and the wiring loom was on the cab floor. Again it had done its fair share of hours.

Wonder if the Standen sugar beet machinery will get used again or end up in local scrapyard?

Probably be scrapped. I dont really see a market anymore for old sugar beet kit anymore, not around here anyway.
