I'd say 1mm brass and tubes for a quick solution. Or even smaller if you have it at hand. I use a bit of m1 screws for different purposes. But I've always wondered what could be used as a substitute, to simply connect two pieces together. Some sort of holstered screw/pin. Never seen anything small enough tho.

i used .5mm ally tube , sanded  down on one face to allow more surface area to bond , along with .35mm brass rod bent at a 90 degree angle, hid that behind some thin plasticard on the drop sides on my pettite trailer ,used the same brass rod in a tight hole to form the top latches ,i just twist them to let the sides drop.

Now I'm liking that cab star. Is it the n400? We use one for gritting at winter with  pronar gritter bolted dow to the chassis. They have some pulling power.

Yes we did. They were ok to deal with. I believe they've designed there own gritter them selves. Only issue we had with the pronar was the spinner it only had a 5meter chuck out so doing big car parks you have to do a lot passes.

They do abit of fabrication work in the workshop, and took on the Pronoar Dealership too, as well as having a hire fleet and do a bit of contracting too... some of the pronar gear seems to be making a bit of an in road now, seen a few bits of kit about supplied by them
